Privacy Policy

Last updated: 20 October 2026

Carpenter Adelaide is operated by Searchology Pty Ltd (“Searchology”, “we”, “us”, “our”). We run carpenteradelaide.com.au, a free referral service that connects Adelaide homeowners with local carpenters. This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use and share it, and how you can access or correct it. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

What we collect

When you fill in a quote or contact form, we collect your name, phone number, email address, project location and any details you give us about your carpentry project. If you email us, we collect your email address and your message.

When you use this website, we and our advertising and analytics partners also collect information about your device and how you use the site, such as your IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, clicks and scrolling, the website that referred you and your approximate location. We collect this through cookies, pixels, tags, session recording and similar technologies, and through our web host’s server logs.

Why we collect it

We use your information to:

  • pass your enquiry to a carpenter so they can contact you about your project and quote
  • reply to your questions
  • keep a record of enquiries we receive
  • market our services to you and show you relevant advertising
  • measure and improve our website, advertising and services
  • run and secure this website.

You don’t have to give us your details, and you can browse the website without identifying yourself. But if you don’t give us your contact details, we can’t refer your enquiry to a carpenter.

Who we share it with

Carpenters. When you submit a quote form, we pass your details to one or more local carpenters we recommend, so they can contact you about your project. We only refer carpenters who hold a current South Australian building work contractor licence and public liability insurance. Once a carpenter receives your details, they handle them under their own privacy practices. By submitting a form, you consent to us sharing your details in this way.

Service providers. We use service providers for website hosting, email, customer records, marketing, advertising, analytics and artificial intelligence (AI). They may access or process your information to provide those services to us.

Advertising and analytics partners. Our advertising and analytics partners, such as Google, Meta and Microsoft, may collect information about your use of this website as described below.

When the law requires it. We may disclose information if required or authorised by law.

Marketing

We may use your contact details and enquiry information to send you information about our services, by email, phone or SMS, and to show you our advertising on other websites and platforms. You can opt out of marketing messages at any time by using the unsubscribe option in the message or by emailing us.

Advertising, analytics and tracking

This website may use cookies and similar technologies. Some are needed for the site to work, including Cloudflare Turnstile, which helps stop spam form submissions. Others are used by us and our partners for analytics, session recording, advertising, remarketing and conversion tracking. Our partners may combine this with information they already hold and use it under their own privacy policies, including to show you ads on other websites and apps.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and manage ad personalisation in your Google, Meta and Microsoft account settings. If you block cookies, some parts of the website may not work properly. Links to our social media pages take you to those platforms, which have their own privacy policies.

Artificial intelligence

We use AI tools, including tools provided by third parties, to process personal information. For example, we may use AI to sort, summarise and route enquiries, draft replies, and analyse enquiries to improve our services and marketing.

Overseas storage and processing

Some of our service providers, including hosting, advertising, analytics and AI providers, store or process information outside Australia, including in the United States.

How we store and protect it

Enquiries are stored in our email inboxes and the other business systems we use, such as customer records and marketing tools. If an enquiry email can’t be delivered, a copy is kept temporarily in our web host’s logs so it isn’t lost. We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access. We keep enquiry records only for as long as we need them for the purposes above or as required by law, then delete or de-identify them.

Accessing or correcting your information

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to stop using it for marketing. Email us at the address below and we’ll respond within a reasonable time, usually 30 days.

Complaints

If you have a concern about how we’ve handled your personal information, please contact us first so we can try to resolve it. If you’re not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page, with the date it was last updated.
